A CAR that had overturned near Dorchester has now been recovered.

Earlier drivers were being urged to be careful driving round an overturned car.

The vehicle was situated on the A354 at Winterborne Monkton on Monkton Hill by the junction to the A35, near Dorchester.

Motorists were being urged to approach it with care.

The incident affected First Bus's number 10 service.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said they were called to the incident at 6.09am, but that the driver was 'walking wounded' and had managed to get out of the car and did not require assistance from the ambulance service.

Officers said the owner was arranging recovery from the vehicle and that a local farmer had helped the owner to move the vehicle to the side of the road out of the way of the traffic.

The vehicle has now been recovered.
