Weather forces cancellation of Sparkle in the Park event
ORGANISERS have reluctantly decided to cancel the popular Sparkle in the Park event due to take place at Lodmoor today.
The committee of The Friends of Lodmoor Country Park has said that due to the windy weather it was left with no choice but to cancel the event.
Chairman Dinah Ellis said: "The high winds would not only make it very difficult to set up and run the event, but it would be irresponsible to encourage people to walk through the wooded areas of the park when debris - and even trees - could fall.
"We are really disappointed after all the hard work we've put into preparation, but safety comes first."
