THE family of tragic teen Louis Harris have issued another plea for information as they try to understand the circumstances which led to his death.

Louis, aged 18, was reported missing on Sunday, February 14 after disappearing on a night out with friends in Weymouth.

A huge search was launched, with hundreds of residents and businesses putting up posters in a bid to find Louis.

But sadly, a body was recovered from the sea close to the ferry terminal on Tuesday, March 15.

Earlier this week, police confirmed it was the body of Louis. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Now, his family have paid tribute to the 'lovely' young man and are hoping that someone might be able to come forward with information which will help them understand what happened to him.

Louis' parents Holly and Graham Harris, said: "The last 10 weeks have been the most terrible time of our lives. Although Louis was found on March 15, it has taken over five weeks to officially identify him.

"Not being able to see our own son has made it all the harder to come to terms with what has happened. We are obviously devastated to have lost our lovely son in such tragic circumstances following a year of so many wonderful achievements. He had just completed the first half of spring term at Bath Spa University, making good progress, new friends, and plans for the future.

"He returned home the evening of Saturday, February 13 to stay for the half term week.

"He was greatly looking forward to catching up with friends that night for a birthday celebration in Weymouth. He was also really looking forward to working on his music coursework the next day which he discussed enthusiastically with his brother before leaving.

"We still don’t know exactly what happened that night, or in the early hours of Valentine's Day, so would urge anyone who has any fragment of information about Louis, anyone who saw him or spoke to him that night in Weymouth, to please come forward to help us with some answers. Any CCTV or webcam recording around the junction of Custom House Quay and East Street from 4.30am to 5am may provide the answers we are looking for.

"We will remember Louis as a very thoughtful, sensitive and caring lad who would not hurt a fly, had a wicked sense of humour, and a great love and creative talent for music. Every day is a struggle without him.

"We would like to thank everyone involved to date for their overwhelming support. We remain enormously grateful to those who assisted in the search and recovery of our son, and to everyone else who has been there for us."

It is understood that Louis' funeral will take place on May 9 at St George's Church, Fordington. The family has asked to the RNLI and a music cause close to Louis' heart.

His death has come as a shock to the community.

Michael Foley, headteacher at The Thomas Hardye School, said: "Staff and students are shocked and saddened to hear the tragic news about Louis Harris. Louis was a student at the Thomas Hardye School between 2010 and 2015 only leaving us last summer following the completion of his A-level courses. In September, Louis went on to study Creative Music Technology at Bath Spa University, returning to school in December to collect his A-level certificates when he delighted in telling us about how well he had settled in to university life.

"Louis was a well-known and popular student who had many friends in his year group. Our thoughts are with them and with Louis’ family at this very difficult time; we would like them to know that the school community shares in their grief and sadness. "

Anyone with CCTV or webcam footage should contact Dorset Police on 101 quoting incident number 14:188.
