IN THE run up to the deadline for the Dorset Echo’s first Industry Awards, we are focussing on each of the sponsors so they can let businesses know what they are looking for in a nominee.

Dowsett Motors will be sponsoring the award for best customer service provider as the Dorset Echo celebrates the best of Dorset’s businesses.

Nominations for the awards are now open and will run until June 13, with businesses able to nominate themselves.

However, people outside the business can also nominate it.

Dowsett Motors has its sales office on Lynch Lane and main garage in Wyke Regis and is a used car dealer, offering cars at affordable prices.

Nigel Dowsett, of the sponsor, spoke about why customer service is so important to the company.

He said: “I think customer service is so important to every business. You’re only as good as your first contact.

“I want to see companies with the personal touch and the familiar touch. Giving the service the customer actually wants.

“In terms of customer service we’re hoping to see that they are looking after the customer and making sure they’re happy.

“It’s about selling yourself to the customer. I think customer service is just so important, it really is.”

Dowsett aims to keeping customers happy with a helpful friendly service and answering all questions with a smile.

They now want to see a similar approach from any nominees.

To nominate yourself, or a business you think deserves recognition in the DT1 area, email 150 to 250 words to Debbie.hellaby@dorsetecho.co.uk with Industry Awards in the subject line along with the name, address, website, contact name and telephone number.

The closing date for nominations is June 13.

Nominations will then be judged by a panel and nominated businesses may undergo a mystery shopper experience.

The three finalists in each category will be announced in the Dorset Echo during the week commencing June 20.

The final ceremony will be at Weymouth College on July 7 where the winners will be announced.

The winners of each category will win £100, a trophy, a bottle of champagne and will be featured in the category winners’ coverage in the Dorset Echo and at www.dorsetecho.co.uk
