A ROUTE through a village that links to a key coastal route will close overnight for two nights.
Dorset Highways started work on B3157 Goose Hill on Monday, November 1 to reduce surface water flooding to the highway and homes in Portesham.
The project saw workers install new surface water drainage installed to increase the capacity of the drainage system and reshape the road.
Three-way temporary traffic lights have been in place at the Goose Hill junction with Malthouse Meadow for around six weeks.
With the drainage improvements nearing completion, a small section of the route will be resurfaced overnight.
A 90-metre section of the Coast Road – Goose Hill junction with Malthouse Meadow – will be closed for two nights between 8pm and 5am on Thursday, December 16 and Friday, December 17.
An official 23.9-mile diversion route will be signposted and see drivers travel on Front Street, Portesham Hill, Coombe Road, B3159, A35 and B3157 to bypass the road closure.
Alternatively, there are a number of shorter but unofficial routes that drivers can take. These are not suitable for HGVs and should be avoided if using larger machinery.
