IT IS nearly the end of May, but does that mean it will be warm enough for a barbecue? 

The weather this month has been particularly hit or miss thanks to a range of high pressure coming in from the south meaning heatwaves have disappeared as quickly as they've been forecast and thunderstorms have been frequent.

Unfortunately the outlook for the weekend doesn't seem to be picking up, with Dorset getting its fair share of cloud and rain.

Today the Met Office predicts bouts of rain for much of the day with heavier showers in the afternoon.

The temperatures will feel cooler than of late with a maximum temperature 17C.

Here’s the Met Office forecast for Saturday and Sunday:

Saturday

7am – cloudy, 12C

10am – cloudy, 14C

1pm – sunny intervals, 15C

4pm – cloudy, 15C

7pm – cloudy, 14C

10pm – cloudy, 13C

Sunday

7am – cloudy, 12C

10am – sunny intervals, 14C

1pm – sunny intervals, 15C

4pm – sunny intervals, 16C

7pm – sunny intervals, 14C

10pm – cloudy, 13C

Looking at Saturday the Met Office said: “Mostly dry on Saturday and despite often cloudy skies, some bright or sunny spells are likely.

"A slim chance of a rogue light shower and feeling pleasant in any sunshine. Maximum temperature 18C.

For Sunday and into the start of next week the Met Office said: "Scattered showers and warm sunny spells on Sunday.

"Showers becoming more widespread on Monday and Tuesday, some of these heavy and locally thundery. Rather breezy at times and turning cooler."
