Money raised at a music festival held in memory of a fun-loving Dorset mum has been donated to a hospital garden fund.

Quinfest, which was held in Milborne St Andrew in the summer in memory of Amy Quin, raised £3,000 for the Dorset Cancer Centre at Poole Hospital.

Amy had been diagnosed with a low-grade brain tumour in May 2016.

Mum to Hector, Amy lived in Piddletrenthide and worked at Flash Harry's barbers in Icen Way, Dorchester.

In May 2017 after being diagnosed with the tumour, Amy and her sisters under the name of the “Mighty Quins” carried out a 15,000 ft parachute jump in aid of the charity, Brain Tumour Research, raising almost £6,000.

Amy died at the age of 36 on January 4, 2020.

Some 450 people attended the funeral of the popular barber, who attended Lytchett Minster School.

Quinfest was first held in 2019 and the 2022 festival, which took place from July 8 to 9, was the first time it had been held since Amy's death.

Her mother Chrissie Quin described Amy as 'a big personality, a bit of a free spirit and a very popular person who had the gift of the gab.'

She said: "We called Amy The Mighty Quin after the song. I know the grief will never go away."

She added: "We had a cheque presentation with Janine from the Poole hospital charity.

"It was an absolute pleasure to give a donation towards the Cancer Garden which I believe is being started next spring as they have the go ahead."

Many members of Amy's family attended the cheque presentation, including her two sisters, Abbie and Hayley and Amy's three nephews and niece.

Also attending was Amy's friend Laurie Griffin, who helped to organise Quinfest.

Among the line-up for Quinfest were bands and musicians Nick Capaldi, Matt Black, Helena Mace, Downside Up, Damion Maston and The Haze.

It was held at Milborne St Andrew's Sports Pavilion.

People camped at the festival, which had plenty of entertainment for youngsters including arts and crafts, ice cream, fun and games and a bouncy castle.
