VISITORS will be given the chance to see one of the world's rarest tanks in action at a Dorset attraction this autumn.

Tiger Day will take place at The Tank Museum on Saturday, September 16 where the world's only running Tiger I tank will be entertaining crowds.

The tank was a formidable weapon introduced by the Nazis during the Second World War and can now be viewed at the attraction in Bovington, near Wareham.

The Tiger 131 attracts huge crowds who can watch it take to the arena and see it in action.

As well as an action-packed arena display, including movie co-star the Sherman ‘Fury’, people will be able to get up close to vehicles in the Tank Park, and explore military history encampments.

The Tank Museum is also giving fans the chance to win a ride in the famous exhibit in a raffle, with one winner taking their seat on Tiger Day.

Tickets must be purchased in advance at tankmuseum.org/whats-on/events/tiger-day

  • The museum will also be holding the a model show on Wednesday, September 23 and Thursday, September 24.
