THIS unusual postcard shows Grand Prix cars racing on Weymouth beach.

It's from the collection of the late and much missed local history enthusiast, Andy Hutchings, and shows members of Dorset Automobile Club racing on the beach at speeds up to 60mph.

Local photographer Edwin Seaward took the photo on Saturday, June 7 1913.

The postcard even made an appearance on the Antiques Roadshow in 2012.

It was one of three shown on the popular programme.

The presenter Fiona Bruce had to guess which card was the cheapest and which was the most expensive – and Andy’s had the highest price tag, coming in at a cool £100.

Andy said at the time: “Antiques Roadshow presenter Paul Atterbury lives in Weymouth and is a friend of mine and he asked to borrow the card ages ago. It was for the section on the show where they have three of the same items and the presenter has to say which they think is the cheapest and the most expensive.

“The card foxed Fiona Bruce, who said it was the cheapest, but Paul had valued it at £100.”
