A play based on the diaries of a royal photographer and Oscar–winning film designer will be performed in Dorchester.
The diaries of Sir Cecil Beaton will be brought to life on stage by English writer and actor Richard Sterling, arranged by Dorchester Arts.
Beaton was photographer to the Royal Family and designed the costumes for the stage and film productions of the musicals My Fair Lady and Gigi. He was also a long-running chief photographer for Vogue.
Cecil Beaton’s Diaries features almost 100 of his photographs, featuring some of his iconic works as well as some rarely seen images. There will also be appearances from his famous sitters including the Queen Mother, Elizabeth Taylor, Winston Churchill, and Truman Capote.
The show comes from the Brits Off Broadway theatre festival last year and received four- and five-star reviews following a run at Jermyn Street Theatre in London.
It will be performed at the Corn Exchange on Thursday, February 22 at 7.30pm.
