MORE than 500 people watched dance and theatre performances at a festival held in Dorchester.

The second Dorset County Dance Festival saw 300 performers from within the local arts community showcase their talent at The Corn Exchange.

As a member of the British and International Federation of Festivals, the dance festival is among the very few federation festivals that provide both competitive and non-competitive pathways, thereby offering a completely inclusive opportunity for everyone regardless of ability, level or anything else.

After the success of this year's event, the organisation is already looking ahead to growing the event for next year.

A spokesperson for the festival said: "The festival is passionate about accessibility, so for anyone with a joy for theatre and dance, if you are learning with a recognized teacher or organization, we whole heartedly welcome you to join us for 2025.

"Enjoy a professional and friendly event ran by a kind and enthusiastic team, from tap dance to classical, song and dance to contemporary, we look forward to your routines entertaining appreciative audiences again next year and celebrating our community festival evolve even further."

The festival was born during the pandemic as months of lockdown saw performances limited, and gave a group of local enthusiasts the opportunity to make use of their unexpected free time and created the charitable company.

The charity aims to benefit the local and surrounding community, and to provide a platform for performers to enjoy the stage, build skills and enhance their confidence.
