New energy efficient homes are being offered to potential homeowners in north Dorset.

A new housing development consisting of 34 eco electric homes has been completed in Gillingham with potential buyers able to visit a nearby sister development to 'get a feel for it'.

Housing developer Redrow is inviting potential buyers to explore its Blackmore Down development in Shaftesbury on Saturday March 23 from 10am until 5pm.

This comes as Redrow revealed one in five homeowners in the south are now considering moving to a more energy efficient home in order to make savings on their bills.

The first phase of the development consists of 34 new eco electric homes all fitted with air source heat pumps, thick insulation, with underfloor heating across the ground floor.

It includes a mix of three, four and five bedroom homes, including of three, four and five bedroom Heritage collection homes in a 1930s style, with a three bed home costing £400,000

The development is also well connected to local transport links with the A350 trunk road close by allowing for access to places like Warminster and Bournemouth. Gillingham train station is also just five minutes away with links to Salisbury and Basingstoke

Mark Vanson, sales director at Redrow Southern Counties, said: “We’re excited to welcome potential homebuyers to our brand-new Royal Oaks development. Visitors can get a feel for what life is like at this vibrant development while experiencing the high-quality, energy efficient homes we have on offer.

“We build energy efficiency into the fabric of all Redrow homes and the properties at Royal Oaks all include air source heat pumps and there are EV chargers throughout the development, helping residents to live more sustainably while lowering their energy bills.
