Two ballet performances from established choreographers will be screened in Dorchester this week.
Dorchester Arts will present the show Dance revolutionaries: Cohan and Macmillan at 7pm at the Corn Exchange on Friday, April 19, which will screen two ballets captured on film by Emmy-nominated director David Stewart.
The first ballet will be Sir Kenneth Macmillan’s short work Sea of Troubles, based on Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet, created in association with the Royal Ballet.
This will be followed by a screening of Sir Robert Cohan’s production of Seven Portraits which brings together seven solo dance performances to depict stories of isolation, loss, and survival.
Following the screenings, there will also be a Q&A session with Deborah MacMillan (Kenneth Macmillan’s widow), David Stewart and Yolande Yorke-Edgell (artistic director of Yorke Dance Project who collaborated with Mr Stewart on Sea of Troubles.)
Tickets cost £15/£13 for members and are available to buy on the Dorchester Arts website: https://tinyurl.com/5n83sarn
