A choir group’s return to the stage was hailed as a success with its afternoon concert raising over £1300 for a stroke charity.

The Beaminster Raucous Chorus held the event at Beaminster School on Sunday, April 28, marking the choir’s first concert since 2019.

It was well attended by an audience of nearly 200 people, with many families and friends invited.

The choir of 60 singers along with its musical director Jenny Bloom performed a selection of popular songs in a special event to raise money for the Stroke Association.

The total amount raised came to £1330.

After the concert the singers were joined by their families and friends for afternoon tea provided by choir members.

The Raucous Chorus was initially formed in 2010 and has since established itself as an inclusive choir for women and men.

It meets every Wednesday during term time at 7.30 pm at the Beaminster Primary School in Clay Lane.
