DORCHESTER Town say a significant number of candidates have shown an interest in the vacant role of first-team manager.

Magpies’ chiefs are busy looking for a replacement for Phil Simkin following his sacking and will speak to several candidates in the next few weeks.

Stuart Heath is currently acting as caretaker boss and will continue to do so while the search for a new manager goes on.

At a board meeting last night it was agreed that a fans’ forum would be held at the Avenue on Monday, September 29 (7pm).

Club chairman Matt Lucas said: “There has been a lot of interest already from very experienced managers both local and not so local.

“We continue to have contact with some interested parties already and have others to speak to in the coming days.

“However, there is no definitive timescale on an appointment as we are carefully examining all of the options available to us.”

He continued: “As soon as we have identified the right person to take the club forward, we will make an announcement.

“I am also extremely pleased that caretaker-manager Stuart Heath has said he would like to stay on at the club in a coaching capacity.”
