DORCHESTER Town boss Graham Kemp cannot wait for his first home game in charge of the Magpies tomorrow, and he is eager for his men to play to their strengths rather than worry about the opposition.

In-form Hungerford Town are the visitors to the Avenue (3pm), with Kemp making his Southern League bow as a manager.

His reign as Magpies’ chief saw the county town side beat Yate in the FA Cup last Saturday, while Hungerford were knocked out by Chalfont St Peter.

However, in the league, the Crusaders are sixth having won three in a row without conceding a goal – Dorchester lie 18th after picking up one point from the last 18 available.

Looking ahead to the fixture, Kemp said: “Even though this league is new to us we still have teams watched and do our homework on the opposition.

“Hungerford are a big, strong side and have a winger in Alan O’Brien who I’m reliably informed would give Usain Bolt a run for his money over 100m.

“But I’m keen as a manager not to focus too much on the strengths of the opposition – I’m proactive rather than reactive.

“I’m a big fan of doing as much homework on a team as I can but I don’t see the value in going into the dressing room and scaring the players with everything I’ve found out.

“I want my players to focus on what they are good at, and that was something we did before the last game.

“I want us to play our game and make other teams worry about us.”

He added: “I can’t wait for my first home game.

“We trained on the pitch on Tuesday and I did have a smile on my face looking at the surroundings.”
