DORCHESTER Town’s 6-1 hammering at the hands of Cirencester last night has given the county town club a “massive slap in the face”, according to boss Graham Kemp, pictured.

The thrashing was the first defeat for the Magpies under Kemp following three successive wins, and even the Dorchester chief has admitted his honeymoon period as manager is now over.

However, he insists that while it was a hugely disappointing result at the Corinium Stadium, he can learn a lot from the experience.

“After getting it back to 1-1, I thought we looked every bit as dangerous as them,” he said.

“But then we gave away two awful goals and capitulated after that, and we were fortunate it wasn’t more.

“Everything was going hunky dory but this has given us a massive slap in the face.

“Obviously it’s an eye opener but I will learn more about myself and the players from this than the three previous games.

“We will take it on the chin. You take the plaudits when you win but you have to have broad shoulders and move on after a result like this.

“We’ve got a tough game coming up on Saturday so we will regroup, talk about what went wrong against Cirencester and take responsibility for what happened.”
