KEVIN Leatham is more than happy with the way his Weymouth & Portland side has started the season – but he knows there is still room for improvement.

The Monmouth Avenue outfit sit proudly at the top of the Dorset & Wilts Two South table with just one defeat from their opening half-a-dozen league fixtures.

They travel to Salisbury Sec-onds tomorrow looking for a fourth win on the trot to cement their position as league leaders.

Prop Lian Berry misses out with an ankle injury, back row duo Sean Murphy and Jake Guildford are unavailable, while Khylo Farley is set to have a fitness test.

Looking ahead to the match, captain Leatham said: “Salisbury is going to be a tough old game, especially at their place.

“They came down from One South last season so it will be interesting to see what kind of team they have.

“We’ve got a few people missing but the guys coming in should be ready for the challenge.”

On the season as a whole so far, he added: “I’m pleased with the way things are going.

“The squad is quite settled and every time we play and train we get stronger. But we have still got a lot of work to do and there is room for improvement.

“We’ve been trying to work on our discipline and we’re looking to be more clinical in everything we do.”

Elsewhere in Two South tomorrow, Dorchester Seconds take on second-placed East Dorset and Puddletown go to New Milton Seconds.

Also, Bridport, who had to forfeit their game against Weymouth & Portland last Saturday due to an unprecedented number of injuries and players with work commitments, are due to host Ellingham & Ringwood Seconds.

Up in Southern Counties South, Swanage & Wareham can cement their position as leaders with a win at home to Salisbury.

Nearer the bottom of the table, Dorchester entertain Midsomer Norton, the side one place below them, at Coburg Road.

Without a victory so far this season in Dorset & Wilts Three South, Weymouth & Portland Seconds have it all to do when they welcome Salisbury Thirds to Monmouth Avenue.

Finally, there is a local derby in Dorset & Wilts Four where Dor-chester Thirds host Weymouth & Portland Thirds.

All games kick-off at 2.15pm.
