NEW Star remain three points clear at the top of the Weymouth Sunday League after taking their unblemished record this season to nine wins on the trot.

The Portland outfit took their goal tally in the league to 60 with an 8-0 rout of Weatherbury at Redlands.

Another three-point haul means New Star keep hold of first place, though they have played a game more than nearest rivals Dorothy.

They made it eight wins in as many matches thanks to a 7-1 defeat of Bakers Arms, the side they host this weekend.

Danny Andrews notched four of Dorothy’s seven, while Ben Mackie bagged a brace and Dean Williams got the other.

Bakers, who had gone into the clash on the back of two straight wins, only had a Darren Greening strike to show for their efforts in a fixture that was switched from Dorchester Rec to the 3G pitch at Thomas Hardye.

Fourth-placed Dolphin matched Dorothy’s seven-goal success with a 7-1 win over still pointless Junction Trojans at Redlands.

Moby Dick’s, sitting sixth in the table, closed the gap on Broadmayne to three points after beating Sailors Return 5-3 – Broad-mayne’s encounter with Market House was postponed.

Ashley Anderson, Adam Sedwell and Matthew Wisden scored for Sailors, who fought back well in the second half having trailed 4-1 at the interval.

And in another game that had to change location, moving from Budmouth School to Redlands, third-placed Famous Old Spa enjoyed a resounding 6-2 win against The Alex.
