DEFENDER Calvin Brooks admitted his annoyance in not being able to pit his wits against his older brother, after Weymouth’s eagerly-anticipated derby with Poole Town was called off yesterday.

The 20-year-old loanee from Yeovil Town, pictured, was denied the prospect of locking horns with sibling and Dolphins’ man Marvin due to a waterlogged pitch at the Bob Lucas Stadium, with his dad Steve set to watch the action unfold.

“We were looking forward to it,” he told Echosport.

“It is disappointing. I spoke to Marv and spoke to my dad and everyone is disappointed but it’s probably better the game was not on when it was so rainy.

“As a defender, there is a chance in those conditions for him (Marvin) to get in when he shouldn’t do.

“Not only my dad but my mum and the rest of the family would have been proud.”

But despite last night’s clash being called off, Brooks is pleased to have penned a further one-month extension to his spell with the Terras.

He added: “It’s all happened so quickly to be honest, Jason has said to me each time that he wanted to get it done and asked me if I was happy, and I am happy to stay and play games.

“I am still really enjoying it down there. I get on with the lads well and we have had some positive results. I think we have only lost once in the games I’ve played in so you can’t argue with that.”

And while he remains with Weymouth, the centre-half is keen to propel the club towards the top of the league standings.

“We are not in a bad position at the moment and hopefully we can see it through and get some more positive results,” he added.

“I don’t know what my brother has to say about it but it would be nice.”
