ALLWAYS REMOVALS 32 TEAM WAIKIKI 28

WAIKIKI were disadvantaged from the off with only six players available.

But after some end-to-end passing they managed to score the first goal of the match.

Allways showed excellent netball skills and stayed ahead by just one point at the end of the first quarter.

There were even more turnovers in the second quarter with neither team managing to find the net, and the score was just as close as the first quarter with Allways staying ahead at 16-14.

Waikiki goal-keeper Vicky Winter used her space well to keep shooters away from the post, however, Allways managed to pull away and take advantage of their spare player.

Waikiki began the final quarter strongly by scoring three goals on the trot. Goal-shooter Mary Cornick was excellent in attack and helped her side to get within four goals of Allways at the final whistle.

CAFÉ OASIS A 22 POACHERS INN 31

POACHERS settled into a rhythm with ease and took an early lead despite Café Oasis goal-keeper Tasha Lund defending well.

They maintained their lead throughout the second quarter with shooters Fran Gray and Sally Miller consistently finding the net.

Oasis made a successful comeback in the third quarter thanks to excellent team work and shooting from Jade Carroll and Eleanor Lake.

The score continued to get closer and Oasis reduced the gap to two points during the final quarter.

However, Poachers soon began to pull away again and they had extended their lead to nine by the end.

O JO’S 43 BUILDRITE 50

EVEN though O Jo’s weren’t missing any chances under the basket courtesy of goal-attack Mandy Grafton, the score remained tight throughout.

Buildrite actually took a narrow lead into the second quarter with centre Jenny Ayles intercepting well.

Her side managed to extend their lead to five at the halfway stage, though O Jo’s’ team changes proved beneficial. Lou Taylor moved to goal-keeper, limiting Buildrite’s scoring opportunities.

Both teams remained determined and O Jo’s’ highest scoring quarter was the last, but Buildrite stayed on top and won by seven points.
