SWANAGE & Wareham have the chance to lift some silverware tomorrow, as North Dorset’s Slaughtergate home hosts two of the Twin Counties’ senior cup finals.

And not only will the winners of each clash get the opportunity to take a trophy back to their club.

The victorious sides will also qualify for RFU national competitions.

The Swans lock horns with Salisbury in the final of the Dorset & Wilts Cup (2.15pm), with the victors set to take on their Berkshire counterparts in the RFU Intermediate Cup.

Meanwhile, in the Dorset & Wilts Vase, which kicks-off at 2pm, Swindon College Old Boys face Blandford – the winners of the game will then play Berkshire’s best in the RFU Senior Vase.

Twin Counties’ council management board member Clive Drake said: “Both finals are Dorset v Wiltshire encounters so that should add a bit of spice to the proceedings.

“North Dorset hosted both finals last year and a very successful afternoon it turned out to be.

“The bar will be open so it would be nice to see a big crowd turn out to support all of our four teams.”

Meanwhile, two of Weymouth & Portland’s teams are in league action tomorrow.

The second XV, languishing at the bottom of Dorset & Wilts Three South, travel to Fordingbridge Seconds (2.30pm).

And the thirds, who prop up Dorset & Wilts Four, entertain second-placed Lytchett Minster Seconds at Monmouth Avenue (2.15pm).

With Dorchester’s firsts and seconds having no fixtures this weekend it will be the club’s third XV, the Gladiators, taking centre stage.

They host Crewkerne Seconds tomorrow in a friendly at Coburg Road (2.30pm).

Skipper Nick Hodge said: “With so few league fixtures it is important we play on a regular basis, and we are extremely grateful to Crewkerne for agreeing to play us.

“This will give us a great opportunity to have a look at a few players as well as allowing those returning from injury a run out.

“We are continuing to blood some of our Colts.

“I have been extremely impressed with their attitude and ability, and I am looking forward to seeing them develop further.”
