SWANAGE & WAREHAM 5 WEYMOUTH & PORTLAND 43

A SPIRITED display by Swanage & Wareham was not enough to stop Weymouth & Portland running out comfortable winners.

If the hard tackles and relentlessness was nothing to go by, two tries in the early stages from the visitors sent out a forceful message of intent.

Sustained pressure led to a late flurry of points late on, but demonstrated both fluent attacking and defensive play from both teams.

With the game only six minutes old, James Dobson soon found himself going over to score the first try.

In the space of 10 minutes, the visitors were all but out of sight after Jaden Claridge and Cameron Gaw-with extended their lead.

Both teams battled for possession but, with just three minutes before half-time, the home side pulled one back.

Another onslaught by the visitors in the second period saw Claridge power through to score.

He then sealed his hat-trick as well for his side’s final try of the day.
