AUTOBITZ 59 CRESTA LEISURE 10

AUTOBITZ defenders Becky Hallett and Clare Robertson were instrumental in their side earning a comprehensive victory, even though their side were a player short.

Both teams tried hard to cope with the wind by getting close to the net but this gave the defenders more chances to intercept.

Cresta’s Jess Buckseall in-creased the pressure on her opposing player and made some key interceptions that kept her opposite number out of the game as much as possible.

Autobitz only conceded one goal in the second quarter, taking the score to 23-4.

Cresta began the second half by finding space in the centre third which helped the progression of play down the court but they struggled to get the ball into the shooting circle.

Autobitz shooters, Karen Hall and Clare Taylor, worked well together and Cresta goal-defence Lucy Astrid read the game and intercepted well. Autobitz kept up their lead throughout and claimed a deserved win.

BOHO BEARS 40 LUGGER INN 26

LUGGER defenders, Jess Quick-fall and Andrea Richards, defended well around the circle and Boho shooters Annie Usher and Lauren Leatherland performed well but found it hard to break through the defence.

Boho made some small changes to their line-up and scored the first five goals of the second quarter.

Lugger put pressure on every pass but Boho took a four-goal lead by the end of the first half.

Changes to Boho’s line-up helped them continue their dominance with Laura Bucke – operating at goal-attack – making some accurate distance shots.

Lugger never gave up and displayed some excellent mid-court play from centre Janet Parker.

Boho lost some of their earlier rhythm but turnovers allowed them to hold on to their lead and finished the game a comfortable 14 goals ahead.

FITNESS WORLD WEYMOUTH 28 BELLE CONSTRUCTION 15

IN a low-scoring first quarter both teams played high quality netball and fought for every ball.

Belle wing-attack Annalise Dive proved effective and her side were only trailing by one goal at the end of the first quarter.

At 12-9 down at the start of the second half, Belle made a few silly mistakes but kept fighting to catch up.

Goalkeeper Jane Van Dijk def-ended brilliantly throughout but in the final quarter, Fitness extended their lead to 13 goals as they ran out 28-15 winners.

WAIKIKI 35 GW ELECTRICAL 31

THIS contest was tight from the outset with GW only being able to field six players.

GW’s mid-court of Rachel Senior and Caroline Goode worked well together and Elaine Sanderson made crucial interceptions, which enabled them to hold on to their narrow lead.

Waikiki goal-shooter Jemima Gomm worked hard to make openings but Waikiki remained a goal down after the second quarter.

GW shooter Hayley Rooks made some great long distance shots but eventually the numerical disadvantage played a part and Waikiki managed to take the lead and hold on in the final quarter.
