MAGPIES’ legend Mark Jermyn has agreed to become the club’s new player-manager.

The 33-year-old is Dorchester Town’s all-time record appearance maker having played more than 600 times for the county town side.

He left the Avenue last summer after 14 seasons to join Poole Town but returns to his spiritual home following the resignation of Graham Kemp earlier this week.

Fans’ favourite Jermyn said: “I have always held Dorchester Town close to my heart because I grew up there, I think I was 19 when I joined and 33 when I left.

“I made great friends there and still kept in contact with many of the players, staff and supporters, I always looked out for their results. I am delighted to be coming back.”

The club’s board would like to thank Poole Town for giving them permission to speak to Jermyn, and Nick Crittenden and Stuart Heath, who stepped in to look after the squad soon after the departure of Kemp.

Jermyn, who will watch today’s home game against Banbury United (3pm) from the stands, is expected to take charge of his first match at Truro City on Saturday, January 24, subject to the completion of paperwork early next week.
