DORCHESTER Town’s players have two men they are going to “run through a brick wall” for in new boss Mark Jermyn and his assistant Nick Crittenden, according to Stuart Heath.

First-team coach Heath, deputy to the Magpies’ two previous managers, also reckons that giving Jermyn the top job is a “great opportunity” for the county town club.

The new coaching team will take charge of their first game together when Dorchester go to Truro City on Saturday, as they look to build on last weekend’s win over Banbury.

“Me, Mark and Critts know each other and we will do whatever we need to do to keep Dorchester Town in the league,” said Heath.

“It’s not about egos or personal agendas, it’s about keeping this football club in the league.

“The players know what the target is and we will give them opportunities to make that happen, and they’ve got to take it.

“In Nick and Mark, we’ve got two lads at the helm that the players are really going to run through a brick wall for, and in a relegation battle that is absolutely crucial.

“Everybody maybe needs to treat it as a fresh start and really work as one to support Mark, Nick, myself and the players.”

Commenting on player-manager Jermyn, he added: “I didn’t know him before I came to Dorchester, but it only took me a couple of training sessions and a few games to realise why he is so revered here.

“It’s because of his attitude and his professionalism, and there’s no reason why he can’t show that as a manager now and be a real success.

“The players will follow him, the supporters will get behind the team, and it’s a great opportunity for the club.”

“He fully deserves his opportunity given his service to the club.”
