GARY Bailey is on a revenge mission tomorrow (2pm) as Portland United return to Mere Town for the second time this year.

Having seen his side dumped out of the Dorset Premier League Cup at Mere Recreation Ground earlier this month, the Blues’ boss knows all about the dangerous Moonrakers, who have won every game they have played so far in 2015.

“They beat us in the cup when we didn’t perform in the first half, we were poor,” he told Echosport.

“In the second half we were all over them and couldn’t score but it was when we were going through a tough time when we were missing a few players.

“On their own patch they are a tough nut to crack and they are having a good run now.

“We just need to find a bit of consistency, that’s what I am looking for. We can’t have this boom or bust in our performances every week.”

The Blues are set to be without Carl Mutch this weekend due to unavailability, but Dan Austin could return after playing 90 minutes for the reserves last weekend.

Elsewhere in the division, Robin Townsend’s Bridport Reserves could move into the top 10 with a win at 17th-placed Sturminster Marshall (2pm).

“Looking at the league, you’d like to think we would be too strong for them,” the Bees’ boss said. “But they came down to our place and beat us, so we’ll be looking to get something out of this one.

“Some weeks it has been difficult trying to get 13 or 14 players for a match.

“Last Saturday I had a choice of 20 and hopefully it’ll be the same again this weekend.

“With so much choice, some lads are going to be disappointed.”

Darren Lock returned from a broken wrist last weekend and is likely to line up again for the St Mary’s Field side.

Rhys Hayter is likely to be with the Bees’ first team, though Dom McAllister, Tristan Gale and Sam Day are all still to return.

Weymouth Reserves will be looking to bounce back from a 4-1 defeat to leaders Merley Cobham Sports when they travel to Cranborne.

Blandford United can build on their 6-0 thumping of Poole Borough last time out with another three points at home against Shaftesbury Town (all 2pm).

“We know this week will be a hard-fought and well-contested derby game,” said Royals’ boss Bradley Asagba.

“Shaftesbury are a very, very confident outfit and will be visiting Park Road fully expecting to take three points.

“But we have our own objectives and I have set out my own expectations to the group ahead of the game.

“So we will go into the fixture aware of the task we are facing but also with a very clear idea of what we need to do in order to come away from the game positively.

“As is becoming the norm, we are going to be somewhat hampered by the unavailability of several key players but we should be used to having adapt to that now.

“Me and Aaron have been here long enough that every player throughout the first and second team should be complicit in their understanding of what is required of them and how they should go about their work.”
