KINGS Arms underlined their dominance in the Weymouth Sunday League this season by clinching the title with two games to spare.

It was always going to be a matter of when and not if Chris Philbrick’s side would be crowned champions in the end, and they did it last weekend in style, beating Broadmayne 4-0 for their 20th straight win of the campaign.

Only requiring a point to finish first, Liam Parsons and Dean Williams both netted twice in another emphatic victory.

Williams’ brace took him to 50 goals for the season and kept up his amazing record of having scored in all 20 matches so far.

His aim now will be to find the back of the net in Kings Arms’ two remaining fixtures, against Market House and New Star, and finish 2014/15 as the team’s top scorer – Danny Andrews currently has 53 goals to his name.

As for Philbrick’s charges, going through the whole campaign without dropping a single point has to be their target.

Speaking to Echosport about his side’s success in what is their first campaign in the league, Philbrick said: “When we started the season I was hoping for third or fourth place, so to do as well as we have has been a shock.

“Our two forwards take a lot of the credit but we have also been solid at the back, and we’ve had a great team spirit.”

Meanwhile, Famous Old Spa are just one point behind second-placed New Star with four games to go.

Goals from Greg Collins and Dave Sowerby gave the Spa a narrow 2-1 win over Market House, whose replay was scored by Clayton Heath.

There was a hat-trick for Ishmael Stewart in a 6-0 triumph for The Alex away at Bakers Arms.

Rich Narramore, Lee Rockingham and Joe Sewell also got on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Sailors Return enjoyed a comfortable 4-0 win at home to Weatherbury, with Reece Clarke bagging a brace and Ashley Anderson and Jake Littler notching goals too.

The encounter between Dolphin and Moby Dick’s was postponed.
