WEYMOUTH Swimming Club celebrated joint third position in the final round of the Dorset Novice League at Littledown.

With first place in the opening round and second spot in the last event, Weymouth's performance at the final competition resulted in overall third.

They finished ahead of eight other teams in total, with Poole coming in first and West Dorset second.

Weymouth took five race wins in the third round through Rhiannon Carter (female 14-and-under 50m freestyle and breaststroke), Lewis Timms (male 10-and-under 50m breaststroke).

There was also success in the 4x25m relays as the 9-years mixed freestyle, 11-and-under medley and 9-year breaststroke teams all won.

SECOND-PLACED FINISHERS

Tyler Baker (male 14-and-under 50m freestyle), Izabelle Macleod (female 11-and-under 50m freestyle), David Taylor (male 14-and-under 50m breaststroke), Emilea Furneaux (female 21-and-under 50m freestyle), Bethany Webb (female 11-and-under 50m backstroke), Jaimee Browne (female 50m breaststroke). There were also second places in the 12-and-under 4x25m mixed medley and 14-and-under mixed freestyle relays.

THIRD-PLACED FINISHERS

Daniel Kingman (male 12-and-under breaststroke), Ashleigh Browne (female 10-and-under backstroke), Jacob Horton (male 12-and-under 50m freestyle), Ruby Cartwright (female 10-and-under 25m butterfly), Ben Kinsey (male 12-and-under 50m backstroke), George Cartwright (male 11-and-under butterfly), Eve Bissett (female 10-and-under freestyle), Ben Jacobs (male 14-and-under 50m butterfly).

Points were also added for Weymouth's second place in the prestigious and fun final event, the mixed freestyle cannon.

The competition saw a total of 27 Weymouth competitors swimming lifetime bests.

That resulted in Jacob Watson, Archie Harris, Ellie Wilcox and Amelie Comben-Linsay being issued with ‘speeding tickets’.

Those tickets mean they are now too fast for the competition’s novice status.
