WEYMOUTH go in search of a league double when they host bottom club Burnham tomorrow (3pm) and manager Jason Matthews has urged his charges to kick on from now until the end of the season.
Two goalless FA Trophy stalemates between the sides in November saw the Terras scrape past the Blues on penalties away from home, and around that period it all turned sour for the Gore outfit.
Burnham’s current form is not pretty to say the least.
They have lost their last nine games in league action and, if they lose to the Terras tomorrow, they will have gone through both February and March with nothing to show for their efforts.
But the Terras’ boss is taking nothing for granted, and believes his side will have to be revved up to claim victory and justify their tag as heavy favourites.
“They gave us three really good games at the start of the season and obviously one game went to penalties,” Matthews told Echosport.
“I have really noticed that this season there are no easy games.
“We want to kick on now. We put in a good display at Arlesey and we had a really good go at Paulton, now we are at home and it’s one of our last three league games there. It’s a must win and I want a cup final atmosphere.
“I urge the fans to get behind us because another win keeps us well in the play-off places and that’s where we set out to be.”
Calvin Brooks remains suspended for the Terras while young goalkeeper Joe Wollacott is set to make his home debut for the club with Matthews still sidelined.
The Terras’ chief also revealed that Southern League South & West outfit Yate Town may be interested in the services of Weymouth assistant-manager Craig Laird.
He added: “Yate have expressed an interest in Craig but they have not approached me or the club, so at the moment, we await Yate asking permission to speak to him.”
