WEYMOUTH FC Youth were among the winners on a pulsating Dorset County Youth Cup Finals Day at King George V Playing Field in Ferndown.
The Under-13s took on rivals Dorchester Town Raiders in their age group final, and it was a game that went all the way to extra-time.
Weymouth eventually won 2-1 with goals from Daniel Henman and Bailey McNamara, while Sam O’Connor netted for the Raiders.
A Dorchester Town Youth side also finished runners-up in the under-12 competition.
The Dynamos led through a Charlie Gosney goal until 15 seconds from time when Rossgarth Youth equalised.
The East Dorset team then scored a second in extra-time to win the cup – George Ashby and Ashley Rylance scored for them.
In the under-15 final, Branksome United met Bridport Youth in a repeat of the 2014 under-14 final.
And Branksome again took home the silverware, winning 2-1 with goals from David Price and Drew Campbell. Samuel Handyside replied for Bridport Youth.
With five of the seven finals finishing 2-1 and four going to extra-time, this year’s Finals Day saw the closest matches in recent history.
The Dorset FA thanked all of the young referees who kept the matches running and their senior colleagues for acting as mentors and fourth officials.
