PAUL Maitland has revealed that Chickerell United goalkeeper Steve Boore has been invited to join the Terras for their pre-season schedule this summer.

Boore, who helped the Chickens lift this year’s Dorset Senior Trophy at the County Ground, impressed the Weymouth first-team goalkeeping coach while working with him in training last season.

The Stalls gloveman was also named in the Terras’ squad as back-up to player-manager Jason Matthews at Banbury United last month.

“We think Steve has come a long way and we have invited him in for pre-season training,” Maitland told Echosport.

“He has plenty of ability, he just needs that self-confidence to progress.

“He probably won’t be the only one we look at but he certainly hasn’t done himself any harm in training. When you train with better players their influence rubs off quite quickly.

“He could be a good number two and is the right age for us to take on and work with. He has a fabulous attitude.”

Maitland also wished to thank Chickerell for their flexibility in letting goalkeeper Boore work with Weymouth.

He added: “Steve Coward (Chickerell manager) has been really helpful with allowing us to have Steve come in for training and sit on the bench for us when they haven’t had games.”
