WEYMOUTH’S Cricket Club’s youth section continues to flourish.

The club’s under-15s have progressed well winning a couple of their league games and have reached the semi-finals of the cup competition.

Experienced players such as Dom Webb and Joe James are blending well with the likes of Ned Hazel and Dylan Ellis, plus the arrival of the talented Joe Adkins from Portland.

The Weymouth under-13s have had a positive start to the season with improvements shown in each of their games so far.

The team beat Beaminster to reach the semi-finals of the cup in comprehensive fashion.

Batting first, Weymouth were led by Tom Anderson who built a cultured innings of 25 not out when he had to retire.

Aided by some solid batting from Ben Alford, Weymouth reached 80-4 from their 18 overs.

The Beaminster innings started in a dramatic manner as Anderson put the opening batsman’s middle stump flat on the ground.

After that, Beaminster struggled and accurate bowling from captain Nathan Quinn (1-4), Billy Baker (2-7), Tom Lydford (1-0) and Josh Radburn-Richards (1-0) allowed Weymouth to bowl their opposition out for just 42.

The club’s under-11s are having a harder time with defeats in all of their games so far but there have been positive improvements from these youngsters and the future looks bright.
