THE Captain’s Scramble at Weymouth Golf Club brought together a number of novices and experienced players.

And it was the combination of John Pritchard, Richard Tucker, Carl McClements and Simon Harvey that blew away the opposition with a score of 50.6.

Jimmy Sweetapple carded the best round in the seniors’ May Stableford with 45 points.

Graham Hughes won Division Two with 43.

John Gondelle, Jim Sinclair and Alan Moore won the Axecliff Seniors’ Open in very windy conditions – they now have a silver salver to keep for a year.

The Weymouth Seniors’ Open was won by K Geddes and G Woods (Sherborne), with J Sinclair and J Gondelle (Weymouth) second.

In the ladies’ game, Weymouth hosted the County Spring Bronze meeting. Around 90 golfers took part and the winner of the high bronze competition was Beverley Mangham (Sherborne). Jenny May (Knighton Heath) was the winner of the low bronze prize.

Jean Vile and Pat Ray had the third and fourth best nett scores respectively.

The Mail on Sunday team are through to the fifth round and their next match will be away to Fingle Glen. Both the Inter-club and Beales teams had wins this month, along with Molly Kington who played at Ashley Wood for the Dorset Girls against Dorset Seniors.

Penny Hunt won the Coronation Salver, while Sue Baker and Sandy Lane triumphed in the Coronation Foursomes and will represent Weymouth in the next round.
