WEYMOUTH captain Kieron Womble knows his side face an uphill task against league leaders Sherborne but insists they can go into the contest with no fear.

The Seasiders, still without a win in the top flight this term and set to drop down the divisions next season, were put to the sword in the reverse fixture when the two teams met on the opening day of the campaign.

They were rolled over for just 69 with Sherborne knocking the runs off for the loss of just one wicket on that occasion.

But Womble is adamant that their title-chasing opposition have far more pressure on them when they lock horns at Redlands tomorrow (1pm).

“They will be more scared of us than we are of them because we have nothing to lose at all,” the Weymouth captain said.

“We have become so used to losing games that we really do have nothing to lose against anybody.

“It cannot get worse than it did against Stalbridge. Every game we will try to stay in it as long as we can and hopefully pinch a win.

“Any club in our position just wants a win, nobody wants to go through a barren season with no wins.”

Hayden White, Alex Mortimore, Graham Puckett and Harry Mitchell are all all set to come back into the Seasiders’ squad for the encounter against a Sherborne side who lead the way in the Dorset Premier League by two points over Poole.

Weymouth chairman John Ryan revealed to Echosport last weekend that the club intend to drop down at least one division no matter what happens this term.

And skipper Womble also gave his views on the decision made at the club’s Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).

“The whole point of the EGM was to tell people how it is and tell them the situation the club is in," he added.

"Throughout any club you hear rumours but it’s better to just put it out there in the open.

“From a personal point of view, it’s disappointing, and it’s disappointing for the other senior guys but, realistically, we are one club and from a club point of view it is needed to close the gap.

“We are a long way from that though, we have to get to the end of the season first and call the AGM."

Asked about his own future, he added: “At the moment, I have no plans, and I haven’t thought about the repercussions of potentially going down because I am so busy sorting this year out.

“I am sure that at the end of the year I will sit down, see where the club is, and I and probably a lot of others will make their decisions.”
