BRIDPORT go into a huge game for the club tomorrow when they take on rivals Sherborne Town in an FA Cup preliminary round derby at St Mary’s Field (3pm).

The Bees, who overcame Alresford Town 1-0 in the previous stage of the competition, already know a win against the Zebras would see them face either Larkhall Athletic or Buckland Athletic at home in the next round.

Both Sherborne and Bridport suffered losses in their respective Western League fixtures last Saturday and Senior got the chance to watch Sherborne in action when they took on Buckland on Wednesday night.

A total of £1,925 in prize money is up for grabs for the winners of Saturday’s tie.

Senior said: “Sherborne always raise their game against us, it’s a local derby.

“I did watch them against Street and they nicked a 2-1 win (on August 12). Street would have been kicking themselves because they created a lot of chances.

“Both clubs will be pleased with a home tie next but we will not be jumping ahead of ourselves, the pitch is looking good and we have to approach it in the right manner.“

Sam Buckler, who was forced off after taking a knock to his ankle in Bridport’s 3-2 defeat against Cadbury Heath at the weekend, is ruled out, while Tom Richardson is also unavailable.

The Bees’ chief also took the time to watch Bridport reserves in action on Tuesday night, and indicated that Alan Hill and Dan Peach, who played in the 1-0 defeat to Balti Sports, could come into the first-team squad.

Sean Stewart and Jamie Beasley, both on the road to recovery, have slight chances of being named on the bench.
