JASON Matthews was left absolutely dumbfounded by how his side managed to lose at Dunstable Town on Saturday, citing the Duns’ win as “daylight robbery”.

Weymouth were rocked by a Danny Talbot free-kick and a set-piece goal from James Kaloczi at Creasey Park, while Dean Evans headed home a consolation with just under 20 minutes remaining.

The reverse leaves the Terras nine points behind Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division leaders Poole Town, occupying fourth spot in the table.

And speaking after the contest, Matthews, who believed his side should not have had either of the free-kicks which led to both goals given against them, struggled to come to terms with how his troops failed to get a result from the encounter.

“I genuinely feel robbed,” he told Echosport. “I can’t quite believe we lost the game.

“It was hard and I couldn’t fault any one of the lads.

“I felt both the free-kicks they scored from weren’t free-kicks and it was a really frustrating day at the office.

“For me, it was daylight robbery.

“We dominated the game from start to finish and they scored with probably the only two chances they had.

“We are really frustrated. We have come away having absolutely battered a side and lost, that’s the disappointing thing, but we have to move on.”

Matthews, who handed a debut in goal to AFC Bournemouth loanee Jordan Holmes, was eager ensure his side were not too downbeat after the setback.

He added: “I have to pick the lads up. It’s not as though we have come away and been battered, we have actually battered someone and lost the game.”
