BRIDPORT boss Trevor Senior has expressed his disappointment at losing Jamie Symes to Portland United.
The former Dorchester and Weymouth midfielder has decided to leave St Mary’s Field for Grove Corner, where the islanders are flying in Sydenhams Wessex League Division One.
Symes had made a number of impressive performances in Bridport colours this season but has been out of action since picking up an ankle injury last month.
Senior, whose men host Hallen in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division tomorrow (3pm), said: “It’s sad for us but Jamie feels he needs another change.
“I rate him very highly and it’s no coincidence that since he has been injured we’ve hit a bad run of form.
“He has been playing really well so it’s disappointing that we are going to lose him to Portland.
“I tried to see if I could change his mind but he had made his decision.
“It’s a shame because he was playing this season as well as I’ve seen him play.”
Darren Watts returns to the Bees’ squad this weekend as Senior’s troops bid to end a run of five games without victory in all competitions.
“We haven’t been playing that badly in recent weeks, we just really need to get a win,” added Senior.
“We’ve been working on our attacking play in training so hopefully we’ll reap the dividends.
“There is a good spirit among the lads, we’ve just got to turn our possession into goals.”
