WIMBORNE Town have appointed Simon Browne as their new permanent manager.

Chairman Ken Stewart confirmed caretaker-manager Paul Roast and his assistant John Macey would take charge of tomorrow’s home match against Shortwood United with Browne, who had been working with Dorchester Town Reserves, set to be introduced to the players on Monday evening.

Roast and Macey will remain involved alongside Browne when Wimborne travel to Winchester City on Wednesday.

Wimborne chairman Stewart said: “The board of directors has appointed Simon Browne as the club’s new manager.

“We would like to thank all of the applicants, they were all of a very high standard. The board would also like to thank (caretaker manager) Paul Roast and (assistant) John Macey.

“Their input and enthusiasm in the interim has been outstanding.”

Former Dorchester Town managers Ashley Vickers and Phil Simkin were also believed to have applied for the role.
