COUNTY town stopper Shane Murphy insists he is “match ready now” if needed for Dorchester Town after returning to the Avenue from a spell at Wimborne Town.

An agreement was reached between the two sets of Magpies for the shot-stopper to get game time at Cuthbury under manager Simon Browne but Murphy was recalled by manager Mark Jermyn and re-signed for Dorchester last week.

And the talented gloveman feels that now he has rekindled his match sharpness with games under his belt, he is ready to play as bigger part as he can back in the Dorchester squad.

He told Echosport: “Jem asked me to come back and sign back on.

“I don’t know his plans if I’m perfectly honest but he asked me to come back and, with Dorchester being my parent club and wanting me back, you have to do what the manager says.

“I am pleased to be back in the squad and pushing for a chance to play really.

“I played about seven or eight games for Wimborne and I was really pleased with how I performed over there.

“I feel like I had gone there and done what I had to as such. I have got games and I am match ready now so, if I am called upon, I can go in and fill the slot.

“Obviously before I hadn’t played some games in a while. Now, off the back of a few games the match-sharpness is back and I am raring to go. I am really keen to get a chance to play but, obviously, that is down to Jem.

“I want to play and Jem knows that, coming back after playing those games my goal is to get some more games under my belt.”

With Dorchester’s scheduled trip to Stratford washed out at the weekend, Murphy will have to wait to find out if he will get his chance in the Dorchester first-team. He also wished to thank cash-strapped Wimborne for giving him the chance to showcase his skills and wished them all the best for the future.

He added: “I spoke to Browner on Friday and basically wished him all the best and thanked him for the opportunity.

“Hopefully, they will sort things out and I’m sure they will because they have a lot of people around the club who do care.

“I really do wish them all the best and that’s deep down as well.”
