FORMER Weymouth youth goalkeeper Adam Parkes featured in goal for England Under-17s during their 2-0 defeat against the Netherlands during the Algarve Tournament.
The young Lions could do nothing to prevent Tahith Chong of Feyenoord opening the scoring six minutes into the second half.
And the Dutch added a second through striker Dylan Vente, also a Feyenoord youngster, shortly after to condemn the young England side to defeat.
Parkes, who is highly thought of as part of Southampton’s academy set-up, told Echosport in the build-up to the tournament that it was an “honour” to represent his club and country.
He was unearthed by coach Tim Davis, who recruited him to play for Weymouth Youth before being eventually snapped up by the Saints.
England will now turn their attention to next month’s Euro Elite Qualifying Round back at home, where they face Turkey, Ukraine and Finland.
