Division One

TEAM WAIKIKI 28

ALLWAYS REMOVALS 17

TEAM Waikiki took the honours in this competitive clash.

Waikiki kept possession better of the two sides towards the end of the first quarter and Cristal Butcher’s precise shooting fired them ahead in the game.

Waikiki were determined to stay ahead in the second quarter, but Allways did close the gap slightly with Abi Simmons becoming a shooter and she managed to close the gap slightly with some crucial goals.

Waikiki brought on Katy Leneghan in the third quarter and she was determined to keep her team in the lead and scored with several long-distance efforts.

Always kept playing their game, moving the ball around court well, intercepting where possible, however, they still trailed by six goals at the end of this quarter.

Emma Parry, for Allways, showed her skill in the closing quarter, using good direction and smooth passes to provide for her shooters.

Unfortunately though for them, Waikiki had a bit more fight left in the tank.

Division Two

AYYA 41 DORSET COUNTY 11

FROM the first whistle, Ayya took control of this game.

Ayya dominated play, with goal-attack Eleanor Lake causing all sorts of problems for Dorset County with her movement and control in the shooting circle.

However, County’s Jo Morton refused to quit and made some crucial interceptions to help get the play in her team’s favour.

The first quarter ended with Ayya nine goals in the lead.

Again, Ayya came out in control of the court in the second period. Their fast paced game was too much for Dorset County to compete with, and effortless shooting from Elaine Robertson ensured they remained ahead.

A change in the County line up, saw Karen Croad on and she controlled play for her team, and certainly gave them a boost.

Dorset County continued to improve their game in the closing stages of this entertaining game, but unfortunately they were unable to convert their chances in the circle.

Ayya’s centre Jane Snarey ran the court really well to guide her side to victory.

Division Two

OTC 47 BASEPOINT 10

SET for promotion this season, OTC went out all-guns-blazing against a depleted Basepoint side.

Good shooting from Emma Mills ensured her team were ahead from the off and Nicola Davidson’s centre-court pressure was too much for Basepoint.

The solid shooting duo of Emma Mills and Bryony White took their chances well to give their side a good advantage.

OTC made a few positional changes in the second quarter, and this only seemed to strengthen their centre-court play.

Sam Waren created good space in her shooting circle for Basepoint, and her feeders certainly knew where to place the ball.

However, missing a player was starting to show as OTC stretched their lead to 15 goals.

Feeling confident, OTC continued with their fast-paced play in the third. However, Sue Cox for Basepoint refused to give in, she worked tirelessly in the centre court to make up for the missing player and tried to get her team back into the game.

The game was almost definitely over for Basepoint in the closing quarter, however, a key interception and quick thinking from

Holly Fowler meant her team scored two consecutive goals, giving them a seed of hope.

OTC reacted quickly and continued to dominate the play and scored several more goals.

BAY FENCING 27

JD WETHERSPOONS 24

BAY Fencing had the edge in this thrilling contest.

It was JD who took an early

lead with incredible shooting from the mother/daughter duo of Sharon Chick and Lynsey Gardener.

Bay’s Sandra Firth refused to let JD have all the glory though, with her smooth fast play around the court and Bay finished this quarter trailing by four.

Positional changes definitely made a difference to Bay’s play in the second quarter, with goal-shooter Emily Park scoring two consecutive goals.

It wasn’t just the shooters that made a difference to Bay’s play, as wing-attack Hayley Stanton moved around the court brilliantly.

The third quarter saw some impressive goals from Chick and there was nothing Bay’s defence could do to stop her.

JD then gained renewed confidence with Jennifer Ayles and Sarah Garman controlling the court together.

However, Bay refused to let their lead get away from them and Jessica Quickfall made great interceptions and fed the ball to the attackers well, increasing Bay’s lead to five.

In the final quarter, Bay stepped up the pace one final time

with Chantelle Halloran and Charlotte Reid working well together and shot well as they snatched the win from JD’s grasp.
