WEYMOUTH Reserves boss Bradley Asagba was left with no complaints after his side picked up four points from their tough bank holiday weekend double header.

His side drew 2-2 away from home against Westland Sports on Saturday and won 3-0 at Mere Town on bank holiday Monday.

The weekend got off to a bad start as Asagba’s men found themselves 2-0 down at half-time against Westland.

However the visitors rallied and put a poor first half behind them as Sanchez Jansz-Baker and Sean Zima scored to earn a point for the Terras.

After their scare on Saturday, things went much smoother for Weymouth two days later as they dispatched Mere, thanks to goals either side of half-time from Edgar Zanin as well as a first-half strike from Jansz-Baker.

The results leave Weymouth sitting third in the Bespoke Teamwear Dorset Premier League with just one game left before they end their campaign.

With both games behind him Asagba told Echosport: “Both games left us very finely stretched in terms of availability.

“They were really difficult fixtures across the weekend and against Westland we let ourselves down.

“We were off the pace and they punished our individual mistakes. They deserved their 2-0 lead.

“But the second half was much better and we dominated them and we had a perfectly legitimate goal chalked off to everyone’s bewilderment.

“But if we had executed our plans for the whole 90 minutes then we wouldn’t have been ruing that disallowed goal.”

After that result Asagba regrouped his troops and asked his side to step up and get back to winning ways.

He added: “We moved on to the Mere game and the start we didn’t have on Saturday, we did have against Mere and apart from a couple of spells from them, we were pretty dominant.

“It was really a question of how many we would score and the performance was quite pleasing.

“It’s a tough place to go and it is a difficult time of year but we’re still on an unbeaten run so we’ll take that and move forward.”

The Terras face the prospect of a third away trip in seven days as they travel to Sherborne Town Reserves for their final game of the season on Saturday (3pm).

“Sherborne is going to be a really tough game,” he said.

“It will be the team that wants it more that will win.

“From our perspective, regardless of the stage in the season we are expecting a good performance and the three points.”
