SOUTH & West Dorset Netball League took part in England Netball’s ‘Net10 for Life’ fundraising event during their matches.

Net 10 for Life is an England Netball initiative to raise money for their chosen charity Cancer Research UK.

Every league and team in the country was invited to take part in this fundraising initiative to help raise thousands of pounds for this charity.

Teams were asked to pledge 10p per goal scored within their match. Umpires and spectators were also encouraged to participate – swapping their usual registered kits for something pink.

S&WDNL once again showed their generosity and support for this charity by pledging over and above the suggested amount.

There was plenty of pink attire to be seen during the night, ranging from pink under armour, shorts, leg warmers and even luminous pink face paint worn by Team Waikiki.

In addition to raising money on the evening through the number of goals scored, league members were able to buy pink shoelaces and CRUK pin badges in the weeks leading up to their fundraising evening.

The sale of these items was organised by Weymouth Junior Netball Club members Jaimee and Ashleigh Browne, who are both avid netball enthusiasts and support this chosen charity.

To date, more than £200 has been raised for CRUK from this event.

A spokesman said: “The league committee would like to thank all of the players, officials and spectators for supporting this event and to Jaimee and Ashleigh for collecting the money in rather cold conditions.”
