ALL Saints’ Year Eights have retained the Area Cup at the Avenue Stadium after beating St Mary’s CE Middle School from Puddletown 6-0.

Although the score suggests otherwise, the game was very competitive with both teams playing some excellent football.

Although the All Saints team had played a hard-fought 70-minute game the previous day, the energy and commitment was still evident throughout the game.

All Saints took an early lead after Zane Samways was brought down in the box and Cody Sparrow confidently placed the spot-kick in the bottom right corner.

After the early goal, both teams then settled down and played some very attractive football with All Saints having slightly more of the ball.

With a minute to go before half-time, Zane Samways broke through the defence and beat the keeper one-on-one.

All Saints started the second half the better with some brilliant play from Ethan Clarke and Joe Woodhouse on the left and Tom Butcher and Devin Fry on the right.

It was inevitable that All Saints would score again, and it no surprise it was star striker Sparrow again with a clinical finish from inside the box.

George Stuttle then scored a superb long-range effort from outside the box to make the score 4-0.

With a comfortable lead, All Saints’ manager Mr Rich then made some changes and brought on Travis Reynolds, Josh Hocking and Jonny Wilson at the back and super sub Billy Baker in midfield who missed a chance with an unlucky bobble on the ball just after he came on.

Sparrow deservedly notched his hat-trick on 58 minutes with another great finish and then Samways wrapped the game upwith All Saints’ sixth.
