DORCHESTER have made a double swoop, re-signing two more of last year’s squad to go with the five that have already stayed loyal to the Magpies.

Having already signed up five of last year’s squad, including the likes of club captain Jake Smeeton and vice-captain Nathan Walker, Dorchester manager, Mark Jermyn, has added Chris Dillon and Neil Martin to the ever-growing list.

Martin was an ever-present figure at the back for the Magpies last season and Jermyn is happy the defender is willing to stay at the club.

Speaking about Martin. the manager said: “Neil still has a lot of energy and he is full of experience, he’s a seasoned professional.

“He’s a good player and he will potentially be playing at left-back.

“Things had to work for the budget and Neil has understood that and he still wants to be at the club, which is great.

“He could’ve moved on, but he decided to stay.”

Dillon had an indifferent season at the Avenue last season but his manager is backing the former Eastleigh man to improve on last season’s performances.

Jermyn added: “His signing is a massive boost.

“Chris is out to prove that he can have a better season than he did last year.

“I don’t think, even by Chris’ own standards, it was his best season last year.

“So we want him to stay because he is a good player and everyone has a glitch throughout their career and we expect him, next season, to bounce back from it.

“We’ve managed to keep the majority of last year’s squad together and now on paper we are looking much healthier than we did two weeks ago.

“We’re sticking to what we know and we know who works well.”

Jermyn has also stated that he will play a role on the field, as well as off it, next season.

The player-manager was a big part of many of last year’s positive results.
