BRIDPORT manager Adam Fricker was pleased with his side’s battling display despite their 3-0 defeat to Plymouth Parkway at Bolitho Park in their toughest test so far in pre-season.

After starting slowly and conceding early, the visitors kept the superior hosts at bay until the hour mark when they scored their second goal.

The Bees continued to cause problems for the home side, but as they pushed for a goal they conceded late on in what was a “flattering” scoreline according to Fricker.

Speaking about the loss, Fricker remarked: “We knew it was going to be a tough game and they are a really good side.

“But, the scoreline did flatter them somewhat.

“I was really happy with our performance. We started sluggishly, but in the second half we changed a few things and the players adapted really well.

“Our attitude was a real plus point as they showed that character, even at 2-0 down, to keep fighting.

“It was a decent workout and we learnt a lot once again.”

Fricker’s Bees suffered no injuries in the clash – a first for this pre-season.

The boss added: “We had a few missing so that changed our shape.

“It was a test and everyone came through unscathed.

“Hopefully Luke Woodland will be back on Tuesday night, so the only player we’re waiting on is Ryan Hayter.”

Bridport will host Ilminster Town tomorrow (7.45pm) at St Mary’s Field in their last run-out before the season starts.
