WEYMOUTH'S Tom Robson has been knocked out of the English Amateur Championship by Jack Gaunt at Ganton Golf Club.
After knocking out top seed Will Enefer to claim his place in the quarter-finals yesterday, Robson fell to a 5/4 loss to Gaunt, who was taken to the 21st before clinching his match against Jay Beisser on Thursday.
Speaking yesterday after beating Leon Fricker 3/2 in the round of 32, he said: “It’s been a good day.
"Anything now is a bonus, I just want to enjoy it, that’s what I do it for.”
Robson had the upper hand throughout his match against Enefer, never dropping behind and eventually winning 2/1.
The Weymouth golfer won three games to get to the quarter-finals, which was the same stage he was knocked out of the competition last year.
