DORCHESTER Town chairman Matt Lucas was pleased with the club’s progress after the Magpies held their first annual general meeting (AGM) as the community benefit society (CBS).

After receiving £119,000 of long-term liabilities from the old company, the board announced at the meeting that 75 per cent of that has been converted into donations and settled, meaning the club is debt free apart from 30-day creditors.

Fifty people attended the meeting at the Avenue Stadium as three new board members were announced.

These were Allen Knott – a community ambassador for the club – David Barrow and Brian O’Donnell.

Speaking about the meeting, Lucas told Echosport: “I thought it was very positive. It was great to see so many people attend.

“It was great to see so many people keen to see us progress.

“We will continue to work incredibly hard to do what we can for the club.”

Speaking about the club’s new board members, the chairman added: “It’s great that we have a business angle with David (Barrow).

“Allen (Knott) has some great plans for the community, and Brian will be a great link between the board and the football side. It can only be positive.”

After the AGM, there was a board meeting where Lucas was confirmed as chairman with David Martin continuing as the vice-chairman.

The club are also looking for volunteers to join their team. If you’re interested in helping out the Magpies phone 01305 262451.
