WEYMOUTH Wildcats co-promoter Martin Peters is looking forward to seeing two duels that should play out as his side host Exeter Falcons at Poole in the Midland and Southern Development League tonight.

It will also mark the first time James Jessop will have ridden on the Poole track, but his name is the only change for the Wildcats, in what is becoming a vastly more settled team from last season.

Wildcats’ star rider James Laker faces Adam Sheppard, who is also riding at National League level this year for Plymouth while riding for the Falcons.

Peters said: “It will be good to see how James Laker goes against him, because James goes really well around Poole. I’m hoping that his bike goes quite well as well, he has just had a couple of services on his engines.

“It will be good to see his level against him.

“I think it is going to be a good little meeting hopefully.”

Another good challenge could see Kai Ward against Sam Peters.

Speaking of Ward, Peters said: “He has been doing the youths this year, so it will be good to have someone around the same age he can compete against.

“I am looking forward to it, so fingers crossed the weather stays alright, you never know what might happen.”

Discussing the Falcons form so far this year, Peters added: “They are going alright, they have got quite a strong team, they are struggling a little bit as they have got Max Pankhurst (who has previously ridden for Weymouth) who is having bike problems so he is just taking a mini break.

“They are a decent team and they are going really well and they got a good away win up at Carmarthen.”

When asked how his side are doing, Peters, Sam’s father, was quite jovial, with the strong team spirit very evident.

Peters said: “We have not had a meeting for a little while so everyone has been away.

“Everyone is looking forward to getting down and riding.

“Cesca has been in the kitchen making rocky road for everyone and me and Sam are putting a bike together, it is all looking good.

“If nothing else it’ll mean we have some sweets at the end!”
